Cricket

Cricket at S. Thomas’ Preparatory School was one of the first sports that started when the school was founded in the year 1938.

Cricket practices take place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Colombo Malay Cricket Grounds from 2.30pm – 5pm. The young players are trained by our Head Coach Mr. Sithum Fernando and assisted by Mr. Sudesh De Mel. The Master-In-Charge of Cricket is Mr. Jason Senanayake.

Noteworthy Achievements

The year 1982 was a very important year for the school as S. Thomas’ Preparatory School was crowned as the Under 13 Division 2 Champions at the Singer Schools Cricket Tournament.
The Under 17 Cricket Team emerged Champions at the Inaugural N. Mylvaganam Challenge Shield Cricket Encounter played against St. John’s College, Jaffna in 2017.
In 2018/2019, we were able to win back the title after 36 long years, by once again becoming the champions in the Under 13 Division 2 category at the Singer Schools Cricket Tournament.
